Viva Las Vegas!

In June, Waylon and I decided to try our luck and head to Vegas with our great friends, Tim and Amy. This was our first "vacation" since Madison, and while we were a little anxious leaving her, we were excited about spending time together and with our friends. Waylon had never been to Vegas so I was hoping he might have some beginners luck and I wouldn't have to return to work when we got back. (turned out to be the complete opposite, no beginners luck whatsoever!)
On the plane, ready to go!

When we arrived, Tim found the first slot machine, put $10 in and walked away with $70!! Waylon put $20 in and walked away with nothing. (beginning of the non-beginners luck).  We stayed at New York, New York which turned out to be a really fun hotel.  I was super excited about the roller coaster. I thought we would ride it a few times, but after the first time we all complained of being sore, and realized how old it made us feel, so that was enough of that! The first day we checked out Excalibur, Luxor and Mandalay Bay. I had forgotten just how big this place was, but I was quickly reminded!

That night we headed to the Hooters hotel where they were offering $200 in free play. They stuck $200 in a slot machine and let you push the button. You could win free wings and a few other random items, no money. Well, on Walyon's second push he won about $450! Of FAKE money! He was not too happy that he had used his lucky push on something that didn't matter. :)

The next day, we all purchased a bus pass and headed out. We had big plans for the day.

We stopped and watched the fountains at the Bellagio

And wondered through Caesars Palace

Then we found our way to O'shea's for a $3 beer and hot dog. Well what we thought was a $3 beer and hot dog........

Then the beer pong started calling our names .....

Several hours and pitchers later, that place was rockin! It was as though we were in college again. We made some new friends, played a little flip cup and had a LOT of fun! So much fun, we didn't make it back for Waylon to place his bet on the Mav's for the NBA finals. He had talked about this bet for days!! and as luck would have it, the Mav's won! (again, non-beginners luck). Someone who will remain nameless (AMY) made us take the trek downtown. I am glad we went and it was very interesting to see but by the time we returned we were EXHAUSTED! Needless to say, Monday was a lazy day by the pool!

Monday night was date night! Waylon and I headed to the Venetian for dinner. We ate at Delmonico's and it was delightful!!!  We had decided to stop lighting money on fire with the gambling and spend it on dinner. It was one of the best meals ever!. Afterwards, Waylon decided we should "walk it off". Two hours later, I think he regretted that idea! :)

The last day we checked out a few more hotels, and relaxed at a sports bar that had some really comfy couches! We had had our fill and were ready to head back home and give the girls a big hug and kiss!

Maybe next time Vegas will be a little nicer! As soon as Tim fills his change jar, we will return!

  1. Such a fun trip! We have decided the change jar is a Hawaii fund. We will have enough change in about 50 years. Hopefully you will still put up with me then, so start saving!

  2. In 50 years, we will be 80! Tim and Waylon may not be around by then so it will just be me and you!
