Never Alone

This little princess is NEVER alone. No matter if she is awake, asleep, or crying there is always someone close by. As I am writing this, both kids are within 12 inches of her face and she just smiles. Landon will get in her face and say "Hi baby Morgan" in the cutest high pitch voice and give her a kiss and a hug. This happens at least once an hour every day. And its always a kiss AND a hug, can't have one without the other. He also will run up to her and say, "Don't cry sissy, it will be ok." And if he is ever gone, the first thing he does is run in the door and say where is Morgan. He told my mom, while he was staying at her house, we need to get in the car and go see Morgan. Precious. Madison is the little momma that I knew she would be. She gets her diapers, wipes, clothes and is not happy is Morgan gets a bath without Madison's assistance. She also assists with the nursing. That's interesting.... Today, she insisted they wear matching clothes (what I have waited to do for about four years now, match my girls) and when Morgan spit up all over her clothes and I had to change her, Madison changed her clothes as well. These three truly love each other and as their mom there is nothing I would want more.

Let the chaos begin

Time to go home!!! Part of me was excited and part of me was a little sad. I was ready to get home, see my children, sleep in my own bed, and begin our life as a family of five. But part of me was sad too. While we were in the hospital, we were somewhat living in a bubble. Its hard to explain, but being in the hospital room with your husband and your new baby, you get to block the rest of the world out.  Now with this being the third child, we couldn't block everything out, ie we still made sure we saw the other two kids, and made sure they were doing good etc but we got to block the small stuff out. Like the dishes or the laundry or cleaning, pretty much the not fun parts of life, and just enjoy our baby. Waylon and I also got to talk to each other, something that is not so easily done all the time. We pretty much solved all the world problems :) While Morgan will still in my belly, I was a little terrified of what life would be like with three kids. How would we get it all done, would they gang up on us, was it possible to spread love to one more child, did I remember exactly what to do with a baby?? After she was born, and during these bubble days in the hospital I came to realize that we would be just fine. That I did have more then enough love to spread to each child, that life would be chaotic but we would be able to handle it, and what exactly you are supposed to do with a baby all came rushing back with that first hunger cry. Waylon and I make a pretty good team. We also have amazing support and help from family and friends around us. Life just got a little more chaotic but I wouldn't change it one bit!

Apparently we were boring her.

Once we got home, Waylon headed off to basketball practice with Madison and my parents came over with Landon and dinner. It was loud, and crazy and perfect. It was very clear our peaceful bubble was gone, but we were ready and somewhat prepared for our chaotic life ahead!

Day 3

Day 3 in the hospital was pretty much just Waylon, Morgan and I hanging out. My mom brought Madison up while Landon was napping with Papa at home. They brought us some beautiful flowers, a balloon, and some banana pudding. YUM. Melanie stopped by before work and Kami snuck away during her lunch break. It was a quiet, low key day which I think Waylon and I both enjoyed. That evening we watched a man get eaten by a gigantic snake. When there is a limited number of channels available, its amazing what you will watch. But apparently this was a big deal, it was all over the news the next morning. So I was kind of proud I was in "the loop".

Day 2

Day 2 of Morgan's life turned out to be an exciting one. It just happened to be bedlam day. Anyone that knows us, knows this is an important day. The last time I missed this game was in 2001, we were in Missouri where there is no cable or Internet and smart phones didn't exist. So ..... Waylon would call with updates on the game. Side note: we won that game and kept OU from going to the national title game. Anyhoo, my mom brought Madison and Landon up to visit in the morning of course dressed in orange. They were still excited to see their sister (I wondered if this would have changed, the newness and excitement gone but nope still there). They hung out for a while and we snapped a few pictures.

After they left the next goal was to figure out how exactly we were going to watch the game. The hospital did not get the channel we needed but we had to find a way. Thanks to some of our more technically savvy friends, we figured out a way to stream the game. Trent and Sara joined us to watch the game. (When they said they were coming I didn't really believe them but I was so excited they came, watching big games without them really isn't the same). Sara brought some cupcakes and we all smushed around a 19inch or so TV to watch our beloved team. Things didn't look so great throughout the game and our visitors had to leave at 5:30 to pick up their kids by 6 (oh my how times have changed). The Cowboys were down by 14 points at this point, but Trent told us he was recording the game and to not tell him what happened, good or bad. So they leave, and we score, now we are down 7 and being the loyal fans that we are, we began to believe there was hope. We stopped them, forcing them to punt and a penalty is called on us. Then the worst possible thing happened, the TV went out. My mom had called us, therefore causing the streaming to freeze. When it finally unfroze we were down 34-35 we had NO idea what happened. (after the game we find out that good ole' bob decided to accept the penalty and kick again, BAD DECISION BOB). We ran the punt back for a touchdown and tied the game. We held them off on their possession in OT and scored on ours! What an ending! and I believe it is all due to our little good luck charm, Morgan!! Her first bedlam game was a win!

Landon's face is priceless! I imagine he is thinking what happened, I am surrounded by girls!! According to your father you will appreciate it later in life son.

Our little good luck charm!

This was how she enjoyed most of the game. Snuggled up to someone.

Next up, we will need her luck for the bowl game. :)

Landon is 2 1/2

I am going to take a small break from baby talk to celebrate Landon turning 2 1/2 today!

Dear Landon,

When did you get so big?!?! I haven't been able to hold you for some time now, and the other night you climbed up in my lap and you were heavy!!! You have grown so much over the past few months. I was shocked and a little sad because I felt like I had missed watching this happen. But you don't seem to mind because your dad is by far your best friend. You love him so much. When he isn't around you want to know exactly where he is, and when you get hurt you only want daddy. The only time you cry for me is when daddy gets you in trouble. Then you are all about mommy. You also love your sisters. You and Maddy love to play with each other. Right now she pretty much bosses you around, and for the most part you follow. You will play anything which requires the use of your imagination. Everything you find you turn into a sword or a shooter. You have several toys you carry around with you everywhere, you even sleep with them. You have 2 swords, a shooter, a gun, magic powers and a yax. You pretend you are the woodcutter from the 3 little pigs and you are going to get the big bad wolf with your yax. You are also very into pirates. You are Jake, daddy is Cubbie and Madison is Izzy. 90% of the time you wear your eye patch. It seems to cover up both eyes most of the time but you don't care, you won't let anyone fix it for you. I am glad you still enjoy Jake so much, because you are about to get a lot of Jake presents for Christmas. You are also ready to play soccer. Everyday you ask if you can go play soccer where your sister plays. I think you are getting tired of just watching Madison and are ready to play by yourself. You still love your Mimi's. There is no going to sleep without them. We have had to make several trips back to Lisa's to retrieve the forgotten Mimi's. The other day Morgan was crying, and you told her she could use one of your Mimi's to feel better. This is a BIG deal. You don't normally allow others to touch them. So for you to offer this to Morgan was one of the sweetest things I have seen. I was a little worried about your reaction when we brought Morgan home. But I couldn't be more proud of how you act with her. You love her, truly love her. At least once an hour you have to find her and give her a kiss and a hug. You will ask if you can hold her and then quickly jump up in an chair with a pillow and say, "I am ready". Today while you were holding her I heard you whisper to her, you are my little sister and I love you. Melts my heart! I hope you always love her and protect her throughout her life because you are her big brother, and that's what big brothers do! I never understood what people were talking about when they said they were "boy moms" but I do now! A boy mom gets to learn about dinosaurs, shooters, swords, constant energy, running, jumping, being gross and lots of other stuff I never knew about! Its a learning experience for me too. You are a very funny kid. You like to make people laugh. Either by saying something funny or doing something funny. You keep us entertained, that is for sure! Life would be boring without you!

When we went to the beach this summer, you were not a fan of the water but your were a fan of the SAND. And you continually talk about how you went to the beach and are ready to go back and hunt for crabs.

For your 2nd birthday we had a construction party. There was a big pile of sand everyone got to dig in and you loved it!
Fireworks did not scare you one bit, and you wanted to be right next to daddy to light them.

You took swimming lessons with dad and had mixed feelings. Some parts you loved others not so much.

You LOVED swimming around GaGa and Papa's pool. You would play out there for hours.

When we moved you and Madison in to the same room, we decorated with dinosaurs. You do not sleep without your dinosaur "pi-dough"

At first you would have nothing to do with the animals, by the end you were giving them lots of hugs!

At least once a week you and Madison get all the costumes out and dress up, this one cracks me up!

When we went to the pumpkin patch this fall everyone got to ride a pony. It was dead silence and you yell out "YEE-HAW". Everyone laughed, which made you happy so you would yell yee-haw every time you passed us. Adorable!

You were the cutest Olaf for Halloween. All the Elsa's (and let me tell you there were a lot!) wanted a picture with Olaf. Already a ladies man.

For dad's birthday, I told you that you could pick out the decorations, so Jake it was! You were soooo happy! And dad was a fan too!

This is your daily look. All of your "stuff" stuck down your pants and a bandana on your head. You are ready to look for bad guys!

You are one proud and loving big brother, Morgan is a lucky girl.

You also are an awesome little brother. Madison is lucky as well

You are growing too fast, and I want time to SLOW down. But I know that it won't so I am going to try and keep learning how to be a "boy mom" every day. You are the best son a mom can ask for and I love you to the moon and back.

Love,
Mommy

First visitors

After Waylon left the OR, someone was waiting patiently by the nursery. I was pretty upset I wouldn't get to see Madison's first reaction to her baby sister, but I threatened Waylon and my mom that they were to document (videos and pictures) the first meeting or they were in trouble!!!  And they passed the test. Waylon said that when he brought Morgan out, Madison was beaming from ear to ear and was so excited to see "little Morgan". I hope the love she had for her sister on this day, and in this moment, continues throughout their lives. I want what every mom wants, their children to be best friends.

Waylon was in the nursery and Madison was looking in. My mom said you could not have put a piece of paper between her face and the glass.

There is a picture of Madison where she looks EXACTLY like this.

Morgan got Madison a "Big Sister" necklace

One proud sister

First family photo. Note the eye patch. Nothing like a family photo with a pirate!

He was so excited to see baby Morgan and just wanted to hold her.

Proud Papa

And proud Gaga

Madison was super excited to show off her new baby sister to her friends.

Lilah needs a baby... just saying

Aunt Amy, I am a little worried how much she is going to spoil Morgan :)

And Aunt Sara had to get some love in too!

I am not sure I actually got to hold Morgan all day, but I got some snuggles in during the night. It was an amazing day, and I am so happy so many people were as excited as we were to welcome our new addition!
