Madison: 5 years a letter

My sweet Madison,

It doesn't seem possible you are five years old. I still remember the day you were born like it was yesterday. You have always been such a sweet, kind, and loving girl and as you get older those traits seem to shine brighter and brighter. You and I are best friends and there is nothing that makes me happier then to spend time with you.

Over the past year you have continued to blossom. You are becoming more confident in yourself and are becoming less and less shy. Your teachers at school have told us how you are a completely different child this year as compared to last. You participate in all activities and play with your other little friends. Also, you love your teachers. Everyday when you leave, you have to give both of them a big hug and tell them bye or we are not allowed to leave!

You are the best big sister Landon and Morgan could ask for. You love playing with your brother, whether its pirates, dinosaurs, or mommy and brother you are always game.
You two share a room, which can be interesting/extremely hard at times, but I don't think you would have it any other way.  Sometimes you two sit in there and talk, sing songs and tell stories and sometimes you yell and are mean to each other. :) You LOVE Morgan, and you are a little mommy to her. You get her diapers, her paci, wipe her nose when she sneezes and sing her songs in the car when she is crying. You are so proud when you get her to stop crying and I am super happy as well! You told me when you grow up you want to be a mommy, well you are off to a good start!

You love creating "art" projects and love to play at your art desk. You are getting really good at coloring and staying in the lines. I know when you have colored all day at school, because the arms of your sleeves are covered in marker. You are still my little athlete. You love playing soccer and basketball or really anything that involves running around! But you also take the time to look for me in the stands or on the field and wave and smile up me! Melts my heart. You are extremely competitive and love to win. Between your father and I you didn't stand a chance!  During your birthday party we played musical chairs and the look of determination to win the game was hysterical. You were NOT going to loose.

Just a few thoughts:

- You keep telling me that when you turn 5 you will need all new clothes because you will be big and the old ones won't fit.
- You begged and begged for me to let you cut your hair short. I resisted as long as I could and I finally gave in, I have to admit it is adorable on you!
- You never wear jeans. Period.
- You know Landon's name starts with a "L" yet you still pronounce it Wandon. Kind of adorable.
- Also, bird is not a word you say correctly but it is cute and you will not let us correct you.
- You are fearless. You will try almost anything, but you do learn. Like at the beach when you get bit by the crab, you said you were NEVER picking up another crab. I don't blame you.
- You are so smart and truly want to learn. You know all your letters and when you are talking you have begun to tell us what each word starts with.
- The other day we were shopping and you picked out some PJ's, I told you that I was not buying them, which your proceeded to tell me that if I bought them for you, you would have more pj's to wear and I would then have less laundry to do. SOLD! You got two pairs.
- Gaga and KK took you to incredible pizza for a little birthday celebration. You took the tickets you won to the counter and told gaga you needed to buy your brother something, you have the sweetest heart.
- You love, love, love to play crazy 8's with papa, and you beat him 95% of the time. I think he is getting tired of getting beat. You are just one lucky girl.
- You tried to teach Landon how to drive your car, you were so patient with him, and when he ran into the house you rolled your eyes, laughed and said, well maybe you aren't big enough for this.
- You and Landon love to hide and scare each other, its hilarious.
- You love playing outside and kicking the ball around with your dad. You two make up some crazy games.

I cannot believe you are five years old. Next year you will be in kindergarten. You told your papa that when you go to school your mommy was going to cry. Well you are right, I will cry. You were my first born and hold a special place in my heart, today, always and forever.

Love you to the moon and back,
Mommy
